IN MEMORY OF SHELDON “SHELLY” BELLOVIN

Sheldon “Shelly” Bellovin, of the Legion Lighting Company, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021, after a long illness. As the Chairman and CEO, Mr. Bellovin succeeded his father who founded the company in 1946. Mr. Bellovin was very active in the East New York Community and was a co-founder of the Local Development Corporation of East New York as well as the East Brooklyn District Management Association. He was involved in other community not- for-profit organizations as well.
Shell y held a number of positions in both organizations - from secretary/treasurer to chairman of the board. He remained active in both organizations until his retirement. In 2005, the LDCENY honored him as the Outstanding Businessman of the Year with special emphasis on his contribution to the East New York Community. Shelly is survived by his wife, Sheila, of 61 years, three sons, two daughters-in-law, five grandchildren and a host of close friends and business associates. His son, Michael, succeeded his father heading Legion Lighting Company. We will miss you, Shelly, and THANK YOU for your leadership, dedication, commitment and contribution to the LDC and your East New York community. |
