Jorge Madruga is the founding principal of Jackson Development Group Ltd., a New York based real estate company that specializes in the development of affordable mixed-use projects located within the five boroughs of New York City. Over the last 12 years Jackson Development has built over 600, for the most part, three-family houses, throughout Kings and Bronx Counties. Along with its partners, the Jackson Development Group and its subsidiary, Jackson Builders, have also built more than 1,000 units of affordable rental housing. An additional 1,800 units are in various stages of construction that will be completed during the next three years. All of the units are in affordable and middle income housing projects, which also contain commercial spaces.

In May 2008, the Jackson Development Group received a Certificate of Occupancy for Granville Payne Apartments, located on Pennsylvania and Sutter Avenues. Tenants will start moving in shortly. The building's commercial space will soon be occupied by a 15,000 square foot Keyfood supermarket that will bring much needed grocery shopping to neighborhood residents.

In 2008, the Jackson Development Group and its project partner, the LDC of East New York will begin construction on an 87-unit affordable housing project on Brooklyn's New Lots Avenue. The project will feature commercial space, off-street parking and provide a new home for the East New York Farmers Market, an East New York institution since 1997.
Jorge Madruga came to the United States as an immigrant from Cuba in 1979. He is married to Francesca and has three beautiful daughters to whom they impart the values of their Spanish / Italian heritage and the importance of community involvement.

In spite of, or because of Mr. Madruga's business success, Jorge has not lost sight of where he came from and the difficulties that immigrants and minorities face in this country. This is why he is dedicated to helping communities -- by building homes, providing financing support to new home buyers, mentoring and providing employment opportunities for minority youth.
