Have you dreamed about starting your own business? This class can show you some of the benefits and the pitfalls and help you determine if the life of an entrepreneur is really for you. You will also learn how the Local Development Corporation of East New York can help entrepreneurs to increase their chances of success.

 

Generally given on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month or as interest warrants. The course is free but please register below.

If you are thinking of starting a business, in process of starting a business or in business for less than 1 year, you need to have a business plan and a thorough and current understanding of the basics of marketing, management, and finance.

FINANCIAL LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM (11 classes)

Fee: $75 to be deposited in a savings account upon completion

An intensive 11-week course where participants will set a plan for achieving home ownership, entrepreneurship or education. Participants will learn disciplines related to credit, bookkeeping, budgeting, financial packaging and investing. Those who are employed full or part-time and make $14,400 or below may become eligible for the savings match program sponsored by Citibank.

QUICKBOOKS: #1 COMPUTER ACCOUNTING TOOL (3 classes)

Fee: $35.00

Learn to use the accounting software for the non-accountant, owner or manager. Prevent headaches down the road. Produce the basic financial statement, profit and loss statement and balance sheet. Be able to process your daily accounting activities with confidence.
